The D6 is the amount. It always means exactly that many. Never at least, never up to. A 3 means 3.
The D10 is what the amount applies to:
- 1 — cuts and transitions
- 2 — props
- 3 — words spoken
- 4 — people involved, including you
- 5 — locations
- 6 — runtime, × 10 seconds (special)
- 7 — submission deadline in days (special)
- 8 — filming window, × 10 minutes
- 9 — video files recorded
- 0 — nothing; letter only (special)
Faces 6, 7 and 0 change how the week works rather than what is in the film. They have their own post.
