The archive has been rebuilt. It used to be an eight column table that held everything and showed nothing, and you could not see a single film without leaving it. It is now seasons, then weeks, then the films themselves, and there is a filter bar on top of it. The archive.
Added
- Open a season, then open a week, then see the films. Three levels, all on one page. Each week shows its prompt, how many films it produced, how many are online, and any note we kept about it (“no letter die yet”, “COVID, never premiered”, “first day in the barn”). The archive.
- Filter by filmmaker. Type a name and the archive narrows to their weeks, with their face on every season and week they were in. Chips let you choose what you are asking about: directed, wrote, acted, camera, crew, post-production, executive producer.
- Build a prompt. The three dice as three columns, the same layout as the rule sheet. Pick an amount, a resource and a constraint and the archive shows every week that rolled it. Picking one narrows the others to what actually exists, so a face that leads nowhere disappears rather than wasting your click.
- Which means you can ask whether something has ever been rolled. There are 1,200 possible prompts. In 145 weeks we have rolled 134 of them. Nothing has repeated as much as you would think, and plenty of combinations have never come up at all.
- A line above the results says what you are looking at, in words, using the real rule text: “Showing 4 different weeks prompted by exactly 3 props and must include footage of at least 1 physical object being destroyed.”
- Every week links out to where its films ended up. Open a week and the bottom of it carries #KTL51X on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, because the code is the hashtag.
- Each season shows the room it happened in. The Thunderdome, the Barn, Wild Heaven, PC&E, Tara. Seven of the eight now have a photo.
- A week with a KTL Show episode says so, with a button straight to it.
Changed
- The season line leads on what the season made, not just what survived: span, events, KTL films created, and how many of those are online. The gap between the last two is real and worth seeing.
- A week leads on how many films it produced. A night where 25 people turned up and 5 films are still online is a big week with a gap, and leading on the 5 told the opposite story.
- The five KTL Show seasons are grouped on their own, in order, counted as events. Everything else sits under Outside the Show: Off Season, Film Festivals, and the one offs.
- Older weeks on the home page are summary banners rather than carousels, so you can see several weeks at once instead of scrolling one.
Fixed
- Films and weeks from before 2025 were showing the wrong rule. Two faces of the ten sided die traded places at the start of 2025: what is now props used to be the submission deadline, and the other way round. The site was reading old codes with today’s meanings, so a 2019 props week was printing as a deadline week. 28 weeks in the archive were wrong, and so was every film sitting on one of those codes, wherever it appeared. Your rule code has not changed. The code on your film is still the one you were given. What changed is that the rule printed beside it is now the one that was actually in force that week.
- Your film’s comments were showing notes from the shop. Order notes from the store robot were landing in the recent comments on your dashboard and counting toward your unread badge. They are gone.
- The filmmaker search was counting work that is not a KTL film. Portfolio and other work was being added to people’s totals, in one case putting 247 next to somebody with 79 KTL films.
The archive is the part of this site that matters most in ten years, so if a week reads wrong to you, or a film is filed under the wrong prompt, please say so in Support. The pre-2025 problem above was found because somebody looked at their own film page and said that is not the rule I was given.
